GAZA – On January 19, 2016, the General Consul of Italy in Jerusalem Mr. Davide la Cecilia, and some representatives of the Italian consulate visited the Latin Parish Compound in Gaza, where they were briefed on the on-going preparations for the solar energy system installation.
The delegation’s visit was also to determine the needs and requirements of the compound in light of the electricity dilemma in Gaza where people get on average an electricity supply of 4-6 hours a day.
Currently a list of contractors is being evaluated, in order to finalize the bidding process. A treatment of the roofs and what entails from insulation, prior to the installation of the panels, is an important step to maximize the longevity of the system.
The solar energy system is a step forward towards reducing harmful gas emissions and at the same time saving money.
The Latin parish compound comprises a school, a kindergarten, the parish’s hall and offices, a church, the sisters’ convent and a center for children with disabilities.
The Italian Consulate has sponsored the new solar system for the Gaza El Zaiton Compound.
Thanks to the Consulate General of Italy in Jerusalem under the patronage of the City of Torino.
